Re: Key Diversification Data
You can try the command "80 50 00 00 08" (8 bytes of card challenge), you will see the response returned by the card with the first 10 bytes remains always the same. It's the key diversification data.

Re: Choose which: extended length or chaining?
Just use extended length APDUs, thus you do not have to use precious RAM for storing intermediate APDU's in a chain.

Re: Choose which: extended length or chaining?
Does your card support both chaining and extended length APDU? I suggest you to use extended length APDUs.

As far as I know, fingerprint applet is not open source code and not for sale as well. I heard that it is no longer in development.

Re: Keys for MIFARE DESFire EV1 8K (D81) Card
Usually, you can configure all files on a DESFire to read without any permission and you can also protect the access permission of every file with a key. In this case you have to authenticate with this key before the access is granted.
However, I am not sure for the card sold in this store.

Re: Does R502 reader work with MIFARE DESFire EV1 8K (D81) Card
Your R502 reader can work with DESFire D81 card.
In fact, DESFire card can work with all the card readers that support ISO7816-4 protocol.

Re: How to get key set version number
Just supplement what UNKNwYSHSA said, in the INITIALIZE UPDATE command, reference control parameter P1 is Key Version Number.
If this value is set to zero, the first available key chosen by the Security Domain will be used. It means that the default key version number will be returned.
